The Audit- Black Women in Leadership Post George Floyd. In the wake of the murder of George Floyd at the hands of police – a murder documented by the cell phones of shocked bystanders and replayed incessantly by the national and international media, companies and organizations desperate to demonstrate their commitment to racial justice and racial healing to a global public demanding accountability seemed to jump at the opportunity to place Black women leaders into executive level position often for the first time, and as some would argue, without an actual plan, or real commitment to support. The term "DEI" became code for "unqualified”, specifically the hiring and promotion of Black and Brown employees and tied to a “woke” political agenda.. With dizzying speed, a new presidential administration made good on its promises to erase all remnants of DEI from the federal government. Despite the fact that years of studies have shown the primary beneficiary of DEI to be white people. With the employment of Black women and people of color being targeted, with the threatened lifting of anti-segregation protections, Is DEI Dead on Arrival…or is America about to learn the hard lesson that racism is bad business?
